  • Intersections of culture, religion, politics, gender and new media, particularly Islamic Communication practices. 
  • Rhetoric of Muslim minority groups
  • The role of new media in the cultural-political transformation of Arab Societies

Current Research Projects

  • Negotiating religious, cultural, and minority identities:  A Shia Muslim community in post-partition Bengal
  • Civic participation and religious communication:  Promoting engaged citizenship/agency through interfaith/intercultural dialogue in the classroom.

  • How do people from different career paths (science, industry, education, religion) talk about leadership differently? 
  • How do lawmakers, policy experts, and the media frame food-policy preemption laws?
